The doctor who delivered the twins, Dr. Michel Sussmann, told The Associated Press that the actress and all parties, including Brad Pitt, "are doing marvelously well."
Sussmann stated that Jolie gave birth to a boy, named Knox Leon, and a girl, named Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarian section in southern France on Saturday night.
The doctor stated that the cesarian had been moved up from the original plan due to medical reasons, but he did not elaborate on what those reasons might have been.
Angelina had checked into the hospital a few weeks ago in order to rest and be monitored by the doctors.
